Teenager has told how he feared for his life when he was lifted 30ft into the air by the kite he was flying.
Shaun Partridge was flying the kite near the village hall in Stanley when the incident happened.
A freak gust of wind suddenly lifted the four metre long power kite high into the sky - and Shaun followed.
The 17-year-old was on a level with the top of the village hall when he realised he was in trouble and decided to let go. He dropped from a height of about 30ft and was left with a broken ankle.
Shaun, who weighs nine stone, added: "I think I may be staying away from flying kites for a while."
