Disabled drugs dealer has falsely reclaimed seized cash

A Wishaw drug dealer who is confined to a wheelchair has claimed back £6000 of confiscated drug cash after falsely claiming he needed it to help him walk again.

Police raided the Wishawhill home of paralysed John James last year and seized almost £20,000 in cash, heroin and cannabis, along with scales and burnt aluminum foil.

The dealer had his cash seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act — but last week he was refunded £6000.

He claimed the money was donated by friends to pay for a trip to China for stem cell treatment to help him walk again.

But the treatment is not available to humans, with scientists waiting for approval to try the treatment on people paralysed by spinal injuries.

A police source said: "It’s a joke. He got £6000 to go to China because he said he was doing a Superman."
