CBC leader resigns after bowel comments

The chairman of Canada‘s public broadcaster resigned Tuesday after making controversial comments about bestiality and bowel movements.

Fournier, 75, became the target of anger and criticism in recent days after falsely claiming in a French-language gossip magazine column that Lebanon permits bestiality, and for granting a lengthy interview on the joys of bowel movements.

The comments by Fournier, a well-known playwright and producer, enraged Canada‘s Lebanese community which was already feeling estranged following what many claimed to be the government‘s lackluster effort in evacuating Canadians trapped in Lebanon during the Hezbollah- Israel conflict in July.
