Postman sent dog dirt to police

A postman sent parcels of dog excrement to Avon and Somerset police in a row over a damaged umbrella stand.

Franco Ippolito, 54, began the campaign claiming officers damaged the stand in a search of his home in Southville.

When he was refused compensation he sent parcels to the officers involved.

The packages were opened by civilian staff, who were "upset" by the stinking contents.

"One that came to the CID office sat on the admin desk for a while because the officer it was addressed to was on annual leave. It got gradually smellier so it was decided to open it."
