A goldfish on show at a museum has undergone cosmetic surgery after visitors said it looked ugly.
The fish, which lives in a pond at the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, went under the knife to remove an unsightly cyst from its eye.
Although the growth was harmless, some visitors had expressed concern about the creature's appearance and it was removed as a precaution, along with one of its eyes.
The operation was paid for using coins thrown into the fishpond at the museum.
