Escaped owl does bird

A barn owl ended up in prison after fleeing its owner.

The owl, named Tetley, flew off while Gordon Medlam, of Armley, Leeds, was serving it dinner. “I dropped the plate, and when I bent down to pick it up he flew over my head,” Mr Medlam said.

Five days later the RSPCA called Mr Medlam and his wife, Hannah, to say that Tetley had been found in an empty cell in HMP Leeds.

Mrs Medlam said: “We looked all round there but never thought he would be inside.”
