Family watches as dad steals car stereos

Surveillance video just released by Texas police showed a young family browsing through a car lot on Father's Day. But, officials, say this was not a shopping spree, but one for stealing.

For the second time in six weeks, after-market stereos from used trucks have been the target at Lynn Smith Chevrolet.

In the latest video, the man looks around, shatters the glass and then rakes it before he climbs in the vehicle as a woman and child act as look-outs.

The young boy comes back and plays in the glass after the man breaks the window as the adults look over the stolen stereo and move on to the next car.

"I just can't imagine as a parent that would bring their child to commit a criminal act and have them stand there and watch while they did it," said Commander Doug Sandifer with the Burleson Police Department.

Authorities believe the thieves are related and the child is about 8 years old.

With surveillance video.
