Bungling Islington councillors tried to get pop star Lily Allen to attend a fundraising bash - but the Miss L Allen they invited was a Jamaican pensioner who has never heard of the top singer.
The borough's Labour councillors believed the pop star was registered to an address in a council estate off Lennox Road in Finsbury Park.
But when the Gazette paid a visit to the first-floor flat in Haden Court, a very different person answered the door - 80-year-old Lileth Allen.
Miss Allen, known to neighbours as Linette, said she had lived in her home for more than 20 years - and had never had any singers round to stay.
She said she would not have even noticed the invitation, adding: "They sent it to the wrong person. I am not a famous singer. But when I was younger, when I was in Jamaica and getting the bus, I used to sing."
Neighbours in Haden Court chuckled at the news.
