A Norwich man has told how he fought off a crazed knife-wielding robber armed only with a shopping basket.
Bret Sims was buying a pint of milk at his local Spar shop in St Augustine's Gate when he found himself caught up in a terrifying armed robbery.
Kirsty Lacey, had stormed the shop and was holding a large knife to a shop assistant's throat when she turned her attentions to Mr Sims. As she started to move towards him, he picked up a shopping basket and fought her off before pinning her down until the police arrived to arrest her.
Mr Sims, who lives near to the shop and works as an aeroplane painter at Norwich Airport, said: “I couldn't believe what was happening and when it was over I was shaking for hours.”
