Robber quick on the draw

An armed robber drew on a moustache and beard as a disguise before threatening a driver and stealing his car in Lye.

The 37-year-old victim had withdrawn money from the Lloyds TSB cashpoint in High Street just after 3pm yesterday when he was approached by the robber.

The victim was threatened with a gun as he got back into his car and, despite managing to disarm the gunman, watched him escape and leave the scene with his silver Honda Accord.

Police have yet to trace the vehicle, which has the registration KN51 ECX, or the robber and have issued an appeal for information.

The gunman is described as white, of a slim build, between 5ft 11in and 6ft tall, with a long thin face and a drawn-on moustache and beard. He was wearing a black or grey hooded top.

Police have warned the public not to approach him.
