A bus driver who posed as a Falklands war hero after buying genuine medals on internet auction site eBay admitted his actions were "stupid".
Jamie Barrett took part in a parade in Edinburgh wearing the medals.
The Livingston man marched with veterans of the Third Battalion of the Parachute Regiment, who had served in the Falklands war.
But it emerged later that he had never been involved in the conflict in which 255 British servicemen died.
Mr Barrett took part in a ceremony in Edinburgh earlier this month to mark the 25th anniversary of the end of the war.
Mr Barrett admitted he should never have taken part in the commemorative service and said he was ashamed of having marched with genuine veterans from the conflict.
He said: "I'm basically a Walter Mitty type of person."
