Dog eats nearly $750; most recovered

Debbie Hulleman's pet dog Pepper likes to chew things. She's gnawed on lipstick canisters, shampoo bottles, ball point pens, toothpaste and now the list includes nearly $750 in cash, which the dog ate.

Hulleman said that last incident has been the worst. It required collecting shredded bits of money from the floor and also from the dog's vomit and droppings.

Pepper is an 8-year-old Labrador-German shorthair mix with the appetite that won't stop.

Hulleman said Pepper got into a purse of a friend of her mother's and chewed the cash inside an envelope.

After finding out what happened, family members collected the pieces of money, cleaned them as best they could, put them together and swapped $647 for fresh currency at a bank.
