A wife made a tape of her husband snoring and gave it to her solicitor to prove grounds for divorce.
Barbara Holmes, 58, of Verwood, Dorset, says husband Brian's snoring is now so bad that the marriage is intolerable.
"Snoring is often seen as a big joke," she said. "It's not funny when you can't sleep at night because of it.
"My husband's snoring sounds like a rocket being launched. Even my neighbours have complained."
Self-employed builder Brian, 61, said: "Everyone snores at my time of life. The real issue is that we have grown apart over the years."
