A gunman holding up a convenience store halted his robbery to wait on a couple who eagerly accepted a pack of cigarettes and other items without paying.
The store’s surveillance video captured the bizarre robbery early Monday morning at the Fast Stop convenience store at 705 E. 75th St.
On the tape, a female was seen approaching the gunman with money in her hand and asking him for Newport cigarettes.
The gunman then reached into the overhead cigarette container and handed her a pack. He could clearly be seen holding a shotgun and emptying the register. She didn't try to pay for the cigarettes, and he didn't take her money in the video.
The female's male companion then approached the gunman and asked for something, then the gunman gave him a display pack of what appeared to be individually wrapped cigars.
The male didn't try to pay for the item, then the male and female were seen leaving the store, carrying "other items, such as drinks, that were obviously not paid for either," according to the police report.
With surveillance video.
