California company trains super sign flippers

Stan Alpert says he isn't worried about the competition when it comes to grabbing the attention of motorists on Los Angeles' Balboa Boulevard.

Alpert is a blur of red as he twirls his advertising arrow and directs motorists to a business. "It's the most effective outdoor advertising out there," said Alpert, of Arrow Advertising.



The arrows guide passersby to businesses, housing developments and other locations, but before they can point the way, Alpert and other sign spinners need some direction.

They attend sign-spinning school to work on their moves.
