Police will likely investigate after a boat wreck on the shore of Oslo suburb Bærum set off a frantic search.
The driver of the boat was relaxing on a sofa at his mother's home while rescue workers searched the sea off Snarøysundet on Thursday night.
Witnesses summoned police after finding the wreck in response to hearing a loud crash. A large search effort was launched, and now police are expected to investigate.
"It has been established that the man was alone on the boat. We have a suspicion of intoxication and a blood sample has been taken. He can at least expect repercussions for not reporting the accident," said Tore Haugen of Asker and Bærum police.
The accident was reported by witnesses at 11:35 p.m. on Thursday night. Just before 2 a.m. the man was found at his mother's home. He had been traced through an address tag found on a bag near the wreck.
