Floor of first class train proves costly

A commuter has criticised train bosses after being told she would have to pay extra to sit on the floor of a first class carriage on a crowded train - despite forking out £4,500 for an annual ticket.

Laura Johns was travelling back to her home in Felixstowe on the 6.20pm service from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich earlier this month when she was stopped by a ticket collector.

The 27-year-old had to sit on the floor of a first class carriage because there were no seats available and no space in any other compartments.

However as she only had a standard annual ticket the guard said she would have to upgrade for an extra cost of £12.

A spokesperson for train operator One said they were looking into the incident.
