‘All shook up’ Elvis impersonators get stuck in lift

A couple of Elvis impersonators got stuck in a lift (elevator) for nearly an hour early yesterday morning.

The pair had returned from a fancy dress party to their flat in All Saints Gardens, Tilehurst Road, West Reading, when the lift jammed on the ground floor at around 2.45am.

They tried to call for help using a mobile phone but could not get through because of poor reception but eventually managed to send a text to a friend.

A fire crew from Dee Road station eventually came to the rescue of the stranded kings of rock ‘n’ roll using a special lift keys to open the doors.

Stunned firefighter Steve Andrews said: “It was quite a surprise when I opened the door to find two people dressed up as Elvis.”

There were two of them, so they weren't exactly lonesome tonight.
