A pot containing a pensioner's gall stones was produced to Ely magistrates as he tried to prove that he could not be guilty of speeding.
Ex-policeman Gordon Warner had denied driving at 40 mph in a 30mph speed limit in Cambridge at 8.22am on August 17 last year, and failing to give police information about who was driving his H-registered Mercedes that day.
He claimed that he was the only person who every drove his vehicle, and the camera that took a picture of his speeding car must have been faulty.
Warner, 70, of Bridewell Lane, Diss, was receiving treatment for prostate cancer at the time of the alleged offence, he told the court. He had driven to Cambridge every day for treatment, but his appointments were always late in the afternoon.
He handed an appointment schedule and the pot containing the gall stones to the court.
Warner was found guilty, and fined £150 with £150 costs and a £15 surcharge. Three points were endorsed on his licence.
