The driver of the 2007 Mercedes Benz S500 did a runner about 7.40am after his car launched over the steel fence of the "upmarket" Ladies for Gentlemen brothel, crashing into the heritage building.
The business, described as a "premier bordello and executive escort service", is one of Melbourne, Australia's oldest legal brothels, and possibly one of its priciest, with escorts starting from $300 an hour.
Witnesses told police the driver lost control while trying to turn right from Brunton Avenue into Punt Road, opposite the MCG and next to the Richmond railway station overpass. No-one was in the brothel or injured during the crash, police said. Police believe they know who was driving the luxury car and are appealing for witnesses.
