Couple jump from Beachy Head with body of dead child in rucksack

Overcome by grief at the death of their little boy, a mother and father have leapt from Beachy Head clutching his body in a rucksack.

Horrified rescuers found the five-year-old alongside his favourite teddy and his parents' bodies near the bottom of the 600ft cliffs.



Police fear the devastated couple agreed a suicide pact after deciding they could not face life without their son, who passed away at their family home from natural causes after a short illness.

All three bodies were recovered yesterday by Coastguards from the base of the notorious suicide spot in Eastbourne, East Sussex. Hardened emergency workers said they had never come across a scene so heartbreaking.
