Toddler snaps award for photo

Camera in hand, a curious two-year-old is Australia's youngest award-winning photographer.

Ryder Takasch, of Port Noarlunga, was on holidays with his family in Tasmania when he discovered his dad's digital camera.

His parents watched the toddler snap a photo of a waterfall which went on to win the under-12s section of the Tasmanian Government's "Capture the Spirit" photography competition.

Hayley Takasch said Ryder's fingers were across the lens in many of the photographs. "I was actually quite shocked that one of them had worked out," she said.

His prize - a Canon SLR camera and accessories worth a total of $1300 - will be put away until he is older.

Ryder, meanwhile, was lost for words. "Ooh, camera, camera," was his only response.
