A convicted murderer in the US state of Utah has chosen to be executed by firing squad.
When given a choice between lethal injection or being shot, Ronnie Lee Gardner told the judge: "I would like the firing squad, please."
Of the 35 US states that have the death penalty, Utah is the only one to give firing squads as an option.
Critics say the method is a relic from the state's Wild West past and should be abolished.

Oh yes, it is so uncivilized to kill people by shooting them, poison is the only way to go.
He killed many people. I would be wiling to et many with a gun. I don't see a problem with the firing squad.
I don't see why people would care? He made the decision?!
I think it's fine. I'd probably choose a firing squad too if I was given the choice, and I fail to see why anyone would think it should be abolished. If he chose it, then what's the problem? He's going to die anyway, what's inhumane about it?
let the army use him for bayonet practice, the murdering scumbag!
oooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
I think i would have chosen that if i were on the spot
Would you not???????????? :'( :'( =-X =-X :'( :-[ :'( :'(

he's lucky to have a choice, his victims didn't. AN EYE FOR AN EYE.
How do they get people to be on the firing squad? How are they chosen? I hope they volunteer and are not policemen or guards made to do it. I think it's unfair to the people on the firing squad.
Now he's getting even more attention (and probably admiration from some weirdos). What's wrong with a quiet lethal injection? He's milking this for the publicity... and that's an insult to his victims.
I don't understand why all executions aren't just a bullet through the head (other than the mess).
I don't see why he would get a choice at all?
He's the mass murderer. So part of his punishment should be that he would have to take death any way the authorities see fit and not he himself.

FTFY
I agree he shouldn't have to choose.
@ Monique: they gather 6 guards/policemen and randomly give them 6 rifles but one of the rifles is loaded with blanks and they don't know which one.
So the "executionners" all have a 5 to 1 chance of not shooting the lethal bullet.
Easier on the mind I guess.

What if the one guy with the bullet misses?
Only 1 person has blanks, the other 5 all have bullets.
