Yobs dyed cat pink then threw it over fence

Yobs who dyed a cat bright pink before throwing it over a fence are being hunted by the RSPCA. A bystander watched in horror as the cat flew over the wooden fence and landed in his back garden at 10.30pm. Now the RSPCA has launched a hunt to catch the cruel culprits.

The man, who had just returned from the pub, was initially dismissed as crazy and told to "sleep it off" when he told his wife what he had seen. But he called the RSPCA, who collected the female cat and took it to a local vet for a wash. The colour faded but is only slightly paler.

Officers do not want to cause further stress by washing it again - so the colour will now have to grow out naturally over 18 months. The RSPCA say the cat - named Pink by staff - is in good health and they are keen to trace the owner and the person who threw it.

It is thought the naturally white domestic short-haired cat, aged one to two years old, is either a stray or has been abandoned. The fur around her neck has a pattern which suggests she has been wearing a collar fairly recently.

There's a video here.
