New Zealand airline launches disco inspired safety video

Air New Zealand have released a video featuring US fitness personality Richard Simmons and a leotard-clad cabin crew delivering preflight safety messages.

The country's national carrier hopes that the camp workout video, performed to a version of Yazz’s 1980s hit The Only Way is Up, will ensure that even the most jaded fliers pay attention to the safety rules.

The airline has a history of imaginative preflight safety videos. "Safety is paramount at Air New Zealand and Fit to Fly will again get our passengers sitting up and taking notice of these important preflight messages in an engaging and fun way,” said Mike Tod, a spokesman for airline.

"Simmons’ fitness moves will definitely ensure that all eyes are on the safety briefing,” he added. The new Fit to Fly safety video went live yesterday on-board all Air New Zealand aircraft.
