Bartender Joel Cummings said the emails and phone calls from people claiming to work with PETA probably started after a video was posted on the bar's Facebook page. "I guess someone took a video of one that jumped out of the trough and landed on the floor," Cummings said.
The races feature two eight-foot long troughs filled with water. The bar would get 10 cent feeder fish from the pet store and drop one each into the trough. A racer guides the fish down the course with a squirt bottle.

"We took care of them when they weren't racing," said Cumming. "Occasionally they would pass away."
