A robbery at a South Bend bank on Wednesday afternoon took a twist when the robber handed some of the loot back to the teller.
The man who hit the Fifth Third Bank shortly before 5:30 p.m. made off with an undisclosed amount of “$100s, $50s and $10s,” then ran out of the bank in an unknown direction, police said.
Before fleeing, however, police noted that the robber surprised the teller when he returned some of the stolen cash on the spot.
“He said, ‘Here’s some of the tens back ... you gave me too many tens,’” an officer at the scene said.
