Australian car thief destroys Porsche fleeing police

Police pursue the driver of a stolen Porsche in a high-speed car chase that ends in the driver's arrest. Local media reported the Porsche was stolen on August 25 and had been used in a number of break-ins. A police officer was driving to a meeting when he noticed the car. A chase ensued with the vehicles reaching speeds of more than 90 miles per hour.

During the pursuit, the yellow sportscar was driven up a sliproad in the direction of oncoming traffic. The driver continued along the motorway in Queensland before making a U-turn in the middle of the road. He eventually lost control of the car, smashing it into a barrier.

Despite damage to the front right wheel which was at a 90 degree angle to the road, he managed to continue driving. He lost control again, this time crashing the Porsche Boxster into a wooden barrier before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Before long he had stolen another vehicle. This time a dual cab Nissan Navara which had been left with the keys in.
