Jaguar XK150 with back of a Morris Minor Traveller bolted onto it could fetch £40,000 at auction

This ultimate hybrid car is the result of two vehicles joined together – with the sleek front of a Jaguar XK150 fused to the back of Geoffrey Stevens' rather less elegant Morris Minor Traveller.

Mr Stevens came up with the idea in the mid-1970s when he realised his 3.4l sports car wasn’t big enough for his two growing Labradors.

The car, named the Foxbat, is believed to be the only one in existence and is expected to fetch £40,000 when it goes under the hammer at Bonhams auction house in Chichester, West Sussex, next Friday. The late Mr Stevens, a former industrial chemist, sold the car in the 1980s and it spent years in France before returning to Britain in 2008.

Tim Schofield of Bonhams said: ‘It’s a remarkable car. It took him several years to complete, using a very rusty Jaguar XK150 and a Morris Minor. You can see exactly where one joins the other. He even hand cut a Foxbat badge to put on the back. It really is incredibly interesting and, as far as we know, it is the only one in existence.'
