A 23-year-old man accused of throwing a chicken wing or a rib at his baby's mother during an afternoon flap, striking her arm, was taken to jail, according to recently released records. Although Courtney Cain, who was jailed on a simple battery/domestic charge, on Sept. 19 told Port St. Lucie police he'd eaten some chicken wings, he denied flinging wings at the mother of his child.
The case began shortly before 5:30 p.m. when an officer was dispatched to an address in the 1900 block of Southeast Hillmoor Drive. The officer met with Cain's baby's mother, who said Cain arrived and started banging on the door. The 23-year-old woman said Cain opened the unlocked door.
They began arguing and she tried to close the door, but he wouldn't let her. Cain then is accused of winging a chicken wing or rib at her, striking her arm and causing a scratch. She showed police barbecue sauce and grease smears on her front door. Chicken wings are not commonly used as weapons. Meanwhile, Cain denied going to his baby's mother's home or throwing chicken at her.
"Instead, he said she came out of her apartment yelling at him and throwing chicken wings at him," a report states. "Courtney did mention that he had eaten chicken wings earlier, but that he did not throw them at (his baby's mother)." Asked if she tossed wings at Cain, the baby's mother said she "saw the mess in front of her door, so she threw them across the yard area, however they did not hit anyone." Cain, of the 1200 block of Ormond Street in Fort Pierce, was arrested on a simple battery/domestic charge.
