Puppy with painful skin condition given protective pyjamas

A puppy barely five months old has been rescued from being put down — and is now recovering with the help of some special ‘pooch pyjamas’. Mr Bojangles has a serious skin condition and was due to be euthanised last weekend.

The crossbreed dog has Demodex mange, which was left untreated, so he scratched and scratched and even bit himself due to the discomfort. He now has open sores all over his body which have become infected. Impawtant Pups Rescue — a small but hard-working dog rescue organisation in Burton — has stepped in to prevent the pup from being put to sleep.

Mr Bojangles was being held at a dog pound in Cambridgeshire when Emma Nicholson was contacted to see if she would take him on. Mrs Nicholson said: “We went down on Sunday to get him straight away and now he is settled in, with his own sets of pyjamas to keep his wounds covered.” Bo, as he’s known for short, is safe now but Emma needs help to fund his treatment, which is likely to be long term.

She says Bo is a lovely affectionate dog who gets on well with her dogs and walks beautifully on the lead. “He just loves cuddles,” she added. Among the fund-raising efforts Mrs Nicholson has started to fund Bo’s treatment is an online auction on Facebook.
