Indian man killed for taking too long in public toilet

An argument that broke out between a man waiting for his turn outside a Mumbai public toilet and another who was using it, turned violent leading to murder. Mahim police arrested 40-year-old Santosh Kargutkar for allegedly murdering Simon Ningeri.

Ningeri, 26 years old and unemployed, was inside the toilet when Kargutkar, who was waiting for his turn, entered into an argument with him for having to wait for long. This led to a fight between the two, police said. According to Mahim police, the incident took place at around 8.15pm outside the public toilet adjacent to Mahim slope area on the Mahim Causeway. Both men stay in the locality nearby.

Kargutkar, who works in a courier company, allegedly started shouting at Ningeri, asking him to come out immediately as he had to use the toilet urgently. He reprimanded Ningeri for taking a lot of time. “After a while, when Ningeri came out, Kargutkar and he got into an argument that led to a fight,” said inspector S Tangude of Mahim police station.

The fight turned violent when Kargutkar allegedly began kicking Ningeri and hitting him on the private parts, following which the latter collapsed. Kargutkar panicked and fled. Others waiting outside the toilet raised an alarm, following which locals rushed Ningeri to a local hospital where he was declared dead. “Ningeri has no external injury marks and we are awaiting the post-mortem report that will pin the exact cause of death”, said Kadam. Police traced Kargutkar, following which he was arrested and booked for murder.
