Police seek man who didn't rob bank

Westbrook police are investigating an incident in which a man wearing a mask entered a bank, but left when approached by an assistant manager. The man walked to a counter of the TD Bank on Main Street and appeared to write a note, Lt. Michael F. Nugent of the Westbrook Police Department said.

When an assistant manager asked the man, who was wearing a grey and black hooded sweatshirt, to remove his hood, he did. But the man was also wearing a dark hat underneath the hood, along with the ski mask.

When the assistant manager approached him, the man acted as if he was talking on his cellphone and left the bank, Nugent said.

The man was described as white, in his early to mid-20s, standing 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall, with blue eyes and a scar or bruise under his right eye, Nugent said. He wore a dark hat, winter gloves and a dark-coloured ski mask covering his mouth and nose.
