Most defendants go for sober and respectable outfits for their day in court. But a bright yellow and blue Showaddywaddy suit turned out lucky for 46-year-old Colin Hart yesterday when he was cleared of headbutting a man in the face. Eyebrows were raised at Perth Sheriff Court when Hart, described as an actor and male model, turned up in a garish Teddy Boy outfit like those worn by the 70s pop band.
He also wore a pair of winkle-pickers and had a distinctive “double Mohawk” haircut. Grant was due to stand trial after being arrested in March last year and accused of assaulting Grant Dow, 25, who was known to him, at Sportsters bar in Perth. But the case was dropped after Dow didn’t turn up to testify.
Prosecutor Stuart Richardson said: “There have been witness difficulties in this case.” Hart, who denied assaulting Dow, describes himself on the internet as a “model, actor and dancer”. He wrote on a profile for an acting database: “I have a very striking look about me as I am covered in tattoos and well-built. I have a natural bubbly personality but have also got a mean look about me.
“I can cover all styles of personalities. Most people say I have a pure criminal look about me. I can adapt to all situations very easily.” Hart, of Perth, says he has been dancing semi-professionally at “raves and large dance events” for 15 years and is proficient in “breakdancing, disco and rock & roll”. He also describes himself as a nightclub promoter and TV extra.
