A 34-year-old Ann Arbor woman was knocked unconscious and sent to the hospital after her husband hit her in the head with a pineapple during a fight on Friday.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said officers responded to the University of Michigan Hospital at about 11:15 p.m. after hospital staff notified them of the assault. The incident took place at the couple’s home in the 3000 block of Braeburn Circle, but the exact time of the assault is unknown.
It's not known what the couple were arguing about; the woman did not cooperate with police beyond giving them basic information, Bush said. Hospital staff told police that they believed the woman had been struck with the fruit, Bush said.
Police ended up going to the home and finding evidence of a fracas in the living room, Bush said. Officers contacted SafeHouse to assist the woman, Bush said. It’s unknown if there are prior incidents of domestic violence in the relationship, but officers are submitting an arrest warrant request to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for the woman’s 42-year-old husband, Bush said.
