Twitter helps reunite dog that took train to Dublin

Irish Rail has managed to reunite the lost dog which boarded a train in Kildare yesterday morning with its owner.



The dog, named ‘Patch’ but which staff at Pearse Station in Dublin had named ‘Checker’, was reunited with his owner Deirdre Anglin yesterday morning after she saw a photo of him posted to the Irish Rail Twitter account. The dog had travelled on the 6.49am train from Kilcock and ended up at the Dublin station.

Just over half-an-hour after the tweet was sent out, Deirdre contacted the rail company and was reunited with the dog at their offices in Pearse Station. “He went missing yesterday evening. We noticed he was gone around 4 or 5pm,” she said as she took a train back to Kilcock with Patch.



“Yesterday morning we did the usual social network thing, putting photos on Facebook and Twitter and then I saw the tweet from Irish Rail at around 9.30 so I went straight down for him”. Deirdre, who works as a fund accountant in Dublin, said staff at the train station were “amazing”, adding: “They were sad to see him go”.
