A Southern California man says a bear stole his tablet computer. Jesse Dinkel was fishing at a lake in San Bernardino on Saturday when a courageous cub snuck up behind his group and stole a fellow fisherman's backpack with an iPad inside.
"The backpack was by a picnic table, and somebody yelled, 'Hey, there's a bear!' And we turned and saw it running with the backpack in its mouth," Dinkel said. "The owner was pretty upset." He said a lone granola bar in the knapsack may have lured the shaggy suspect.
"People were giving (the iPad owner) a pretty hard time saying, 'Good luck explaining that to the insurance company,'" Dinkel recalled. "It was wild. I go into the wilderness all the time, but this is the first time I've ever seen a bear." He said even if the iPad had tracking, it probably wouldn't work up in the remote, mountainous location.

He said the excitement didn't end with the first case of sticky paws. About 15 minutes after the first incident, a bear that might have been the same one ransacked another nearby picnic table, making off with a container of food. Dinkel, from Yucaipa, caught the second incident on video that shows picnic-goers watching from just yards away and some giving chase.
