Zoo offers swimming with Siberian tiger cub

Big cat lovers are flocking to a private zoo in Florida to swim with a Siberian tiger cub.

Visitors are paying $200 to spend 30 minutes with six-week-old Tony the tiger cub - including a bottle feed and a pool swim. Randy Stearns, the head animal trainer and president at Dade City’s Wild Things, insisted the attraction was safe.

"It's not like we're gonna just throw you in the pool and say, 'Here's the tiger'," said Mr Stearns. "You're in there with at least one of the trainers actually in the water with you."

He added that under Florida laws members of the public are allowed to interact with tigers until they reach a weight of 40lbs (18kg). A fully-grown Siberian tiger can weigh up to 1,000lbs (450kg).
