Drunk driver asked homeowner if he wanted pizza after crashing into garage

An Indianapolis man was arrested after police said he crashed his vehicle into a family’s garage on the city’s southeast side. William Kise, 41, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless driving.



At approximately 10:13 p.m. on Thursday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the crash. The homeowner, Mark Higgins, told authorities he was home watching the Colts game with his wife, Rachel, and their four children, when he heard the crash.

When Higgins went outside to see what was going on, he discovered a 2004 Mustang GT in his garage. Police said the crash’s impact was so hard that it pushed the family’s two vehicles to the other side of the garage. Higgins told authorities Kise exited the vehicle and offered him pizza. When police arrived, they noted there was a pizza box and Tabasco sauce on top of the Mustang’s trunk.



According to the police report, an officer stated Kise had Tabasco sauce all over his pants and the odour of alcohol on his breath. It was also reported Kise’s speech was slurred and his eyes were red. Kise told the officers he was at a friend’s house and had five beers. He said he was driving and eating a piece of pizza, when his foot got stuck between the gas and brake pedal.  Police said Kise consented to a breathalyzer test and blew a .077. Damage to the Higgins’ home is estimated at $30,000.
