Husband murdered neighbour with spoon for ogling his wife

A  22-year-old Indian man was arrested for mercilessly assaulting his neighbour to death with a spoon for eyeing his wife, the police said on Friday.

Identified as Bhagwan Dass, a labourer, the accused was arrested at his residence at Baljeet Nagar in central Delhi within 24 hours of having killed one Raju, on Thursday evening, said Alok Kumar, DCP (central). “We received information from the hospital that Raju had been admitted and declared dead. His relative said he had been beaten to death with a spoon by Dass,” said DCP Kumar.

According to a relative, the police said, Raju, a resident of Jhansi, lay in a pool of blood while Dass pounded him. When the relative tried to intervene, Dass fled. “An extensive manhunt was launched to apprehend the absconding accused and several sources were deployed and local intelligence was also gathered. A trap was laid near his house and he was nabbed as soon as he surfaced,” DCP Kumar said.

Dass disclosed that Raju had been leching his wife who had complained about this to him on the fateful night. Enraged, Dass consumed alcohol and decided to finish Raju off. “He went to his residence and attacked him. In the process, he also hit him with a spoon on his temple and forehead - inflicting fatal injuries. Further investigation and interrogation is in progress and the blood-stained spoon has been recovered,” DCP Kumar added.
