Security guard stabbed by man stealing tampons

A security guard was stabbed outside of a Safeway store in Redding, California, just before 7pm on Sunday.

Police said Jesse Fisher, 53, a loss prevention officer, was attempting to stop a shoplifter from leaving the store when he was stabbed in the abdomen. The suspect, 26-year-old Alexander Restuchi of Redding, fled the scene but was caught at around 9:30pm.

Redding Police said Restuchi was attempting to steal some tampons when he was caught. Police said Restuchi left his backpack at the scene which allowed police to help track him down at a home.

When he was caught, officers said they located evidence on his person including a four-inch knife. Police said Fisher suffered about a 3 inch cut but his injuries were minor.
