Thieves who cooked themselves a three-course meal at an Indian restaurant in Australia loved the food so much they took menus home. The break-in at the New Delhi Tandoori Restaurant in Sunshine, South East Queensland, was discovered when a delivery driver found the doors open.
Susanna Badyal, whose family owns the restaurant, said the thieves did almost no damage, except to the beer supplies. "All the Coronas are finished," Ms Badyal said. From what the family can tell, the thieves broke in through the roof, looked around the restaurant, and then cooked up a big pot of prawns.
They took cutlery and glasses from the dining room and settled in for what Ms Badyal believes was a three-course meal, with vegetables and various sauces. "They definitely made themselves very comfortable," she said. There was no cash in the store, and nothing was stolen apart from some food and drink.
Ms Badyal said the thieves found a tiny key to unlock the bins to take some beer with them - and replaced the key where they found it afterwards. "They didn't damage anything, (which) makes me happy," she said. The family discovered three menus had been taken from the restaurant, and Ms Badyal said she wanted the thieves to know they didn't have to break in to get a good feed. "We're not that expensive, you can come in and have a meal," she said.
