Thai Ladyboys compete in elephant polo tournament

The Tiffany's Showgirls ladyboys took part at the King's Cup Elephant Polo Tournament in Hua Hin, south of Bangkok on Wednesday.

The day started with monks blessing the elephants by spraying them with water, followed by several polo matches and a fruit buffet as a treat for the elephants. The annual charity event raises funds to help with elephant's welfare.

Elephant polo originated in Nepal where the sport took off in the early 1980s. It is now played in Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

In elephant polo, each elephant carries two people – the driver, or mahout, who already has a strong relationship with his animal, and the player, who is responsible for swinging the mallet.
