101-year old Mrs J Buijs was honoured when the mayor of Zwijndrecht in the Netherlands, Dominic Schrijer, visited her at home last week.
Mrs Buijs and the mayor spoke about their shared past in Rotterdam and exchanged many beautiful experiences and stories.
Ms. Buijs still lives independently and enlists the help of home care. Her son and daughter also visit daily.
A proud Mrs Buijs said that pictures of the Mayor's visit will be sent to her grandchildren in New Zealand.
The joyous occasion was also covered by the local newspaper.

The newspaper cropped out the old lady. Nice work.
Did the paper do that to avoid paying for the picture! Cropping the watermark?
Heh, I wondered the same thing, Old Duck.
In the Netherlands a mayor always visit someone who celeberate his of hers 100th or more birthday
