Speeding biker banned from roads after repeatedly swearing at camera

A biker who repeatedly swore at a speed camera when he sped past it has been banned from the roads after police eventually identified him.

Luke Weeks, 19, of Dartford, Kent, was snapped 19 times by the safety camera on Birchwood Road in Dartford between 27 May and 17 August this year.

He was recorded driving with no hands on the handlebar, making offensive gestures, driving with a pillion passenger and at speeds of up to 60 mph in a 30mph speed restricted zone. Kent and Medway Safety Partnership say Weeks, who only had a rear number plate, was aware the camera was front facing and so would not be able to see his rear registration plate.

Weeks pleaded guilty to 19 counts of speeding and three counts of careless driving at Chatham Magistrates' Court. He was fined £10 for each of the speeding offences, with £125 court charge and £25 victim surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 12 months and will have to take an extended driving test.
