Deep breath

It is somehow comforting to see that beauty can be appreciated by other living things.

BTW, do you see how thin and sharp the claws on that squirrel are? One time we had a squirrel that would come to our windowsill for peanuts, and once when I was putting out the peanuts the squirrel jumped to the sill and, totally inadvertently, caught my finger under his claw, puncturing the skin and nailing me (literally!) right to the bone.

An hour of my finger in a bowl of epsom salts later, I was okay.

Apparently, immediately after this photo was taken the squirrel ate the flower.

And yes, they have sharp claws. :)

Squirrel: Ah... breakfast.

Teeth too! I have a slightly 'sane' squirrel that hangs around and will take some food from me. I've learned the bigger the food the better, it gives them more to grab hold of and not my finger. Walnuts work well.

Yes, as well-weaponized as squirrels are, you'd think cats wouldn't want anything to do with them. Still, my crazy orange kitty insists on chasing them. Weird.

One time I put a cherry out for a squirrel. The animal approached cautiously, sniffed it for the longest time and, at last, decided to pick it up and lope off with it. Not sure if he or she ever ate it.
