10-year-old boy stole his family's car to avoid going to school

A 10-year-old boy from Florida faces charges of grand theft and aggravated battery after he stole his family's car.



Miami Gardens police said the boy did not want to go to school, throwing rocks and a brick at his mother and grandmother in retaliation.

Moments later, police said, the child grabbed the car keys and drove away. Neighbours called 911 and police apprehended him nearby.

"He could barely see over the windshield," Detective Michael Wright said. When reporter Christina Vazquez went to the family's home, a woman hit her in the face.
