Pub damaged in tumble dryer attack

Police in Northern Ireland are trying to identify the culprits after a tumble dryer was thrown through a pub window in County Derry. A police spokesman said the dryer broke the window but fell back onto the footpath outside McReynolds’ Bar in Dungiven last Sunday.

Finvola Hassan, who runs the bar with her husband, said they were at a loss to understand why the attack occurred or who was responsible. "There’s an electrical shop across the street and sometimes old appliances are left outside it.

"Someone took the tumble dryer from there and threw it at the window. Luckily enough, Sunday night was quiet enough and there were only about three customers in at that time."

While no-one was hurt in the incident, considerable damage was caused. The window had been specially sand-blasted with the bar name. "The whole unit has had to be taken out and sent away and we just have ordinary glass in now but we should get it back soon. Unfortunately, it will cost us," Mrs Hassan said.
