Police hunt man with drawn-on moustache and beard

Police are appealing for help in tracing a man apparently in fancy dress in connection with assaults on two men and a woman at a New Year event. On New Year's Eve four friends were celebrating at the Tudor Barn pub in Eltham, south east London.

At around 2:50am the following morning they left the venue. The suspect approached and headbutted one of the victims, a 42-year-old man. He attended hospital for an injury to his eye, which has left him permanently scarred. The female victim, aged 28, tried to intervene and was grabbed and thrown to the ground twice.

The suspect held her down to prevent her trying to help. The second male victim, aged 34, then also attempted to assist and was punched in the face. He attended hospital with bruising and swelling to his lip and damage to his front teeth which has caused irreparable nerve and root damage. The suspect is described as a white man, of large build and around 6ft.

He was aged 45-50, spoke with a London accent and had very short hair. A CCTV image released shows him apparently in fancy dress, with a moustache and beard drawn on. He was wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt. Despite extensive enquiries the suspect has yet to be identified and there have been no arrests. The motive for the attack is unclear.
