Scissors thrown from Hong Kong high-rise lodge in woman's skull

An elderly Hong Kong woman was rushed to hospital after a pair of scissors thrown from a high rise window lodged into her skull, police said on Sunday

The 78-year old was one of two people hurt by falling scissors on Saturday. In a separate incident a 28-year old man suffered cuts to his forehead when a pair hit him on the head.

Police said both incidents were being investigated as crimes. Many people each year are injured and sometimes killed by objects falling from the city's forest of high-rise apartment buildings, especially public housing blocks.

Authorities have had to place notices at housing estates warning against the problem following a rash of family disputes that resulted in personal belongings being ditched out the window onto passing pedestrians and cars below.
